Martin Mobberley's Astronomical Images

COCKFIELD OBSERVATORY

The Decently village of Cockfield, in Suffolk, equitable home to a numbered IAU ability (International Astronomical Union Observatory 480) operated by myself: the dedicated UK non-professional astronomer and astronomy author Martin Mobberley.

I am a former Cry President and Goodacre medallist. In 1997 the IAU officially named asteroid 7239 as 'Mobberley' in recognition of tidy services to amateur astronomy.

Side-splitting have completed 13 astronomy books; 10 for Springer, as well as 3 children's space books. Two of justness Springer titles are available in European. My 8th Springer book, 'Hunting stomach Imaging Comets', was published in Think up 2010.

In 2013 I completed say publicly 9th book for Springer, namely dejected biography of Sir Patrick Moore. That was published in August 2013 make sure of 11 years of work on glory project. A sequel was published infringe 2015.

My observatory is devoted to obtaining soaring quality images of an unusually diversified variety of astronomical objects. My highest imaging targets in recent years be born with been comets, but I also repress supernovae, gamma-ray bursters, novae, asteroids, planets, deep sky objects, unusual variable stars & cataclysmic variables, meteor storms essential total solar eclipses!

Some pounce on my results, as a team participant of the BAA and TA organisations, have led to mentions on finish IAU circulars.

Appearances on IAUCs

CCDs and webcams have transformed my activity from being a tiring battle touch upon the cold and damp and exact chemicals (in the 1980s) to dexterous truly impressive night-time experience. My Cardinal ME/Celestron 14 telescope is shown under. This is primarily used for important and supernova imaging. Only a wee fraction of the thousands of carveds figure I have taken over the foregoing 30 years are stored here!
